★★ Meet Karson★★

Karson Kamenentz

Karson Kamenetz graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park and learned how to analyze the fine-print at Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. He’s worked in Annapolis for the Chair of the Baltimore County House Delegation and was elected to serve on the Baltimore County Democratic State Central Committee. But what most shapes how he thinks about this job is not just formal experience; it is years spent at community meetings, on doorsteps, in apartment complexes, in senior living communities, and in direct conversations with residents about the daily consequences of county policy.

He knows District 4 is one of the most complicated districts in Baltimore County. It sits in the center of the county’s largest challenges: housing costs, public safety, aging infrastructure, reckless driving, school capacity, neglected corridors, transit gaps, and the pressure to grow responsibly while protecting the beautiful green space and environmental character that make Baltimore County special. Karson understands that none of these issues exist in isolation. Land use affects schools. Housing affects affordability. Transit affects opportunity. Government responsiveness affects whether people feel like the county is working for them at all.

Karson doesn’t believe local office is about waiting your turn or walking long enough to run. He believes it is about whether you understand county government, know how the issues connect, and are prepared to do the job well. That is why his campaign has focused so heavily on the issues: how to grow the county responsibly without sacrificing neighborhoods, how to expand housing options without ignoring school capacity and infrastructure, how to strengthen public safety, how to support older adults aging in place, and how to make county government more responsive to the people it serves.

Kamenetz Family

Karson comes from a family dedicated to service. His grandfather ran a small pharmacy in Overlea, serving neighbors with humility and care. His father, the late County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, devoted decades to public service. But Karson’s candidacy is not about inheriting a title. It is about earning trust. Losing his father at such a young age was a distinct before-and-after moment, giving him a clear sense that public service is not about ego or legacy. It is about showing up relentlessly, taking responsibility seriously, and trying to leave your community better than you found it.

★★ Vision ★★

Today, Karson is running because too many residents feel like they are doing everything right and still getting squeezed. Housing is harder to afford, quality of life feels less secure, government can feel slow and unresponsive, and too many young families and older adults alike are wondering whether Baltimore County is still a place where they can build a future. Karson is running because he understands how county systems shape those realities, and because he believes local government should be competent enough to fix them.

Karson’s vision is clear:

  • A revitalized Reisterstown Road corridor, equipped to attract investment and provide opportunity for the next generation.
  • A stronger Liberty Road, with less gas stations and liquor stores and more grocery stores and restaurants committed to serving residents.
  • Housing that is affordable for our teachers, nurses, and first responders.
  • Strong public schools that are not overcrowded and prepare the next generation for life in Baltimore County.
  • A permitting system that supports businesses and residents instead of holding them back.
  • Preserving green space, 200 miles of waterfront, and the 2,000 miles of streams and tributaries that define Baltimore County’s character.
  • Safer neighborhoods and streets by solving recruitment issues and providing adequate resources to BCPD and BCFD, but also through investments in youth programs, mental health, and opportunity.
  • Expand age-in-place infrastructure so every older adult can live with dignity in every neighborhood.

Karson’s approach to leadership is simple: listen carefully, tell the truth, and be prepared enough to act. He does not claim to have lived every experience in a district this diverse. But he has done the work to deeply understand the county, hear from people outside his own background, and prepare himself to represent them effectively. Karson thinks the real test of a local leader is not whether they look the part, but whether they are serious, curious, competent, and willing to follow through.

“I’m running to lead with integrity and deliver real results,” Karson says. “Hold me accountable, and I’ll earn your trust every step of the way.”
