We love this place. But, right now, it feels like we are doing everything right but still getting squeezed. Housing is harder to afford, reckless driving and crime have made people feel less safe, blighted corridors sit along Reisterstown Road and Liberty Road, and too often county government feels harder to reach and slower to respond than it should.
Karson Kamenetz is running to move Baltimore County forward.
He believes government should be simple: show up, listen, and deliver. That means protecting the quality of life that makes our communities strong, fighting crime and reckless driving, and making Baltimore County a place where working families can afford to stay and seniors can age with dignity.

Continuing the Kamenetz family name in local politics
Young, motivated and ready to continue his father’s family legacy in Baltimore County, Karson Kamenetz tells Nestor why he’s going to be entering local politics and running for Baltimore County Council at Costas Inn in Timonium on the Maryland Crab Cake Tour.
Karson Kamenetz, 25, discussed his run for Baltimore County Council, emphasizing his desire to continue his father’s legacy. He highlighted the county’s aging population and the need for affordable housing and services for both young people and seniors. Kamenetz criticized the bureaucracy in the permitting office, citing a constituent’s months-long wait for a response. He advocated for clean energy solutions like solar power and criticized the idea of sending the National Guard to pick up trash. Kamenetz also stressed the importance of non-partisan governance and community engagement.
Pikesville Native Karson Kamenetz Plans Run for County Council
Pikesville native Karson Kamenetz announced recently that he plans to run for Baltimore County Council in the second district in the 2026 election, if Izzy Patoka, the current council member, runs for county executive, a move he’s expected to make.
If he wins, the 23-year-old Kamenetz would take the seat his father, Kevin, held for 16 years before becoming county executive in 2010 ahead of his untimely death in 2018.
